Former God of War writer and director, Cory Barlog has joined Crystal Dynamics, the developer behind the Tomb Raider franchise.
It was revealed in a report from GamesIndustry.biz and Barlog will help the franchise kick start the "yet to be announced new title".
Barlog was expected to be working on a new Mad Max game with developer Avalanche, due to be released in time with the new film, but Avalanche founder Christofer Sundberg told Eurogamer he didn't know that Barlog had "joined Crystal Dynamics until I read it in the press.
"He's an awesome game director and I'm happy he found a good team and project to direct."
Crystal Dynamics studio head, Darrell Gallagher said they'd "they'd pulled together some of the best teams in the industry to deliver against upcoming projects" and that their choice of taking on Barlog was based on his "heritage in building industry defining action adventure titles."
