Rocket League developer Psyonix has announced it’s cracked the technicalities of cross-network play with VP Jeremy Dunham saying he’s “elated” and “excited”.

“The only thing we have to do now is sort of find out where we stand politically with everyone, and then it's full steam ahead to finish the solution that we've already started,” Dunham said to GameSpot.

“Technologically everything works, we've got it figured out, just a little bit of time to get everything up and running. Right now, excitement is the best way to put it. We just want to get in there and make it happen. Elation is probably another word I would use. We're just excited.”

We reported last week that Rocket League would be the first game to allow cross-platform gaming (it already supports PC vs PS4), but this will mean that XBO and PS4 players might finally be able to take each other on.

Although Microsoft has been clear in it’s desire for cross-network gaming, Sony has been a little more guarded; Sony boss Shuhei Yoshida said that making cross play possible was easier than organising the business.

If played correctly, this could be the start of a cross-platform revolution.
