New character and level cap increase for Borderlands 2

Gearbox has confirmed that Borderlands 2 will be receiving a new character and an increased level cap in the coming weeks.

The sixth playable character is called 'Krieg'; he specializes in melee combat and can regain health after attacking enemies.

Krieg will be available to download in May for 800 Microsoft Points or $9.99 USD.

Gearbox also confirmed that on 2 April the level cap will be increased to 61. The increase will occur after a $4.99 USD update for consoles and PC, but season pass holders will get it for free.

A new weapon tier called Pearlescent will also be added, which will represent the rarest loot in the game.

And finally a new Ultimate Vault Hunter mode will be released, available to players who have completed the main story on True Vault Hunter mode and reached level 50.

The last planned campaign DLC for Borderlands 2 is set to launch in June.
