Sony holding behind closed-doors event in February

Sony is hosting its 'Destination PlayStation' annual event in February for a small number of select guests.

The two-day event is a chance for third-party publishers and retailers to take a first look at new products and developments from Sony.

This year the Destination PlayStation event is rumoured to reveal the first details of the new PlayStation 4 - codenamed the PlayStation Orbis.

With Microsoft set to unveil its plans for the next-generation Xbox at E3 it seems like a good time for Sony to start providing industry insiders with news.

Among the possible features in a PlayStation 4 could be a tagging system that stops games from being played on multiple consoles or accounts.

Sony earlier confirmed that production of the PlayStation 2 has now ceased, with the console selling over 150 million units worldwide.
