Sony ceases PS2 production worldwide

Sony has revealed that production of the PlayStation 2 console has now ceased worldwide.
The PS2 remains the best-selling home console in history with over 150 million units sold since its launch in 2000.
A whopping 1.52 billion software titles have also been bought for the PS2 during that time.
The news comes as Sony is rumoured to be gearing up for the announcement of the next-generation PlayStation - codenamed 'Orbis'.
The PS2 will be remembered for housing great franchises such as Gran Turismo, Grand Theft Auto and Metal Gear Solid, as well as being the first home console to play DVDs.
It was also backwards-compatible, meaning gamers could keep playing their library of PSone games.
