Sumo Digital is asking fans what downloadable characters they'd like to see added to Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed.

The kart racer launched last week for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and is set to be available as a Wii U launch title on 30 November.

Now the developer has taken to the Sega forum to ask if there are extra characters that players would like to see included.

"I'll set you a challenge," wrote Sumo Digital's Steve Lycett. "Without any policing from the Sumo or Sega crew, if you can all agree on three characters by the first of December and prove there is sufficient interest of at least 1000 unique people per character, I will present the result to Sega.

"I can't promise anything will happen as a result, but since you're starting it, let's see if you can organise yourselves in the next few weeks to pull that off."

The community reacted quickly with many characters being voted for from games such as Virtua Fighter, Yakuza and Streets of Rage.

However Sumo Digital isn't making any promises to include popular characters, as they still need to figure out licensing issues and design.
