There could be a remastered version of the original Gears of War for Xbox One, which will be developed by Black Tusk Studios.

According to “sources”, Polygon reports that the remastered version will include better visuals (obviously) and cut scenes, with a remastered opening cinematic of the Locust invasion as an example to those at the publication.

It was previously rumoured there would be a remastered version of the game called the Marcus Fenix Collection, but previous series producer at Epic and head of Black Tusk, Rod Fergusson, debunked the rumours on Twitter earlier this year.

“I love the passion, but there's no Marcus Fenix Collection," Fergusson said in March.

"We ARE working on other exciting Gears projects. I'll see you at E3!"

Former Xbox chief, Phil Spencer had said he wanted to see the return of franchise to the current generation in an interview with Polygon and that he wanted to get back to basics with the game, noting the “epic scale of the setting” he was playing in.

"The story, the setting was a lot more what I would call soulful and maybe even a little dark. I think the game over time became almost more of a parody of itself; not for any kind of horrible reasons. It's hard to continue to manage the IP."

It’s also been rumoured that Brink developer, UK based Splash Damage, will be working on the game with job listings being spotted for a “very well known and highly popular AAA title with next ten technology”.
