Ubisoft is hiring a community developer in Abu Dhabi, a role which demonstrates that the Arabic speaking world is slowly assimilating to the games industry.

The role, which will see the successful candidate wear “several caps” helping to “implement[ing] Ubisoft strategy” in the MENA region, will be responsible for developing the brand and engaging gamers in the region.

Hilariously the job post only has one description of the position; “Relay the voice of Ubisoft to the Arab world on its dedicated forums and SNS”.

Despite this very vague description, this is a good opportunity for anyone who wants to get into the games industry in the Middle East. The job is based in Abu Dhabi, Ubisoft is renowned as one of the better publishers to work for, it takes care of their staff. And most importantly it’s the first publisher to really invest time, money and development in the region.

Although the voice acting in some of it’s games is a little poor (I’m looking at you SC:Blacklist - they don’t speak Arabic in Pakistan, nor do they have five regional accents spanning the Middle East in Libya… not one being Libyan!), this might be a good opportunity to really focus not only the content in big releases, but to help create and craft regionally acceptable and relevant games.
