The First Touch Control system that made its debut in FIFA 13 has been tuned for this year's game, according to FIFA 14 developer Sebastian Enrique.

The system dramatically changed the way players attempted to trap and control the ball last year, as there were times it could run away from you completely if you weren't careful.

Enrique claimed that the system was being tuned so that it works well with other new features.

"The First Touch Control system has been tuned," he told ArabicGamers.

"So it's something that is still in the game because we think it's fantastic, but by doing precision movement and changing how players move on the pitch, it is a massive change and we need to retune and rebalance everything.

"And we will continue refining it for the final months of development."

Enrique also said that the team at EA Sports was hoping to address the issue of physicality, as sometimes there are smaller players who are just as good at protecting the ball.

"It's something that we look at as well to balance better, all the different types of players," he added.

"For example for Protect the Ball, you would say, 'Hey, just the players that are stronger would be able to do it'. Which is not the case."

Enrique then pointed to Argentinian superstar Juan Roman Riquelme as an example.

"I'm Argentinian so I look at Riquelme, that is kind of the master guy on protecting the ball, and he's not a strong player so he's just awesome at protecting the ball.

"So what we do is we find what is the right combination of player attributes to be able to do that."

FIFA 14 is scheduled to launch in a few months. We'll be bringing you much more on the game over the next week.
