Blizzard has delayed its upcoming MMO, codenamed Titan, to 2016 "at the earliest".

The developer has also cut the number of people working on the game, with reports saying that a team of 100 has now been downsized to 70.

The delay will allow the game's core team to "start over" on the title.

"We've always had a highly iterative development process, and the unannounced MMO is no exception," said Blizzard spokesperson Shon Damron.

"We've come to a point where we need to make some large design and technology changes to the game.

"We're using this opportunity to shift some of our resources to assist with other projects while the core team adapts our technology and tools to accommodate these new changes."

Blizzard is hoping this new MMO can prove to be as popular as World of Warcraft, which still has a large number of subscribers despite launching in 2004.

Subscriber levels have been steadily falling though as they now stand at 8 million players, down from 10 million last year.
