Grid 2 won't have cockpit cam due to console power

Codemasters has confirmed that Grid 2 won't have a cockpit camera due to the lack of power in current-gen consoles.

The sequel to Grid was announced last year for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC, but it came with the news that there would be no cockpit camera angle.

Producer Vincent Muelle claims the cockpit camera won't be featured because they'd rather focus on creating a better race experience.

"If we just had to do this game for PC we obviously would have a cockpit cam," Muelle told FirstLook, "but we only have so much power to play with [on consoles].

"We'd prefer to focus on the race experience, and that unfortunately lead us to make some difficult decisions regarding the cockpit cam."

Muelle told fans not to worry though, as the decision will ultimately lead to a better game.

"[Its removal] allows us to be able to push other things in the game, like with the visuals," he added.

"We've been able to extend point-to-point events, we've been able to add more cars to the track, and that's really pushing things forward.

"It's a good decision for the game and we don't regret it."
