Resident Evil 6 new release date

Capcom has announced the latest Resident Evil title will be released 2 October on consoles with a PC version to follow "at a later date."

The game was initially due to be released on 20 November, but the announcement was made at last week's Captivate conference in Rome, as reported by IGN.

In addition to this the game's producers, Yoshiaki Hirabayashi and Hiroyuki Kobayashi, as well as director Eiichiro Sasaki - in an interview with IGN - there would not be a Wii U version available.

"Unfortunately, RE6 will not be available at this time on the Wii U," Kobayashi told us. "Right now we're concentrating on the PlayStation 3 version, 360 version and the PC version of the game."

The event also revealed there will be co-operative multiplayer, online and split-screen and will also feature a drop-in and drop-out game play.

There will also be a Mercenaries mode which won't need to be unlocked.
