A group of former Rare employees have created a Twitter account to gain support for a successor to Banjo-Tooie.

The group features series composer Grant Kirkhope and artist Steven Hurst, among others.

Its Twitter profile states: "Let's make the spiritual successor to Banjo-Tooie! Core members of the original team are ready to go. All we need is your support. So join us today!"

The account went on to state the aim of the campaign.

A series of Tweets read: "So, what is this Twitter thing all about? Right. Firstly, it is to test the waters really, about whether anyone would even think making a game that shares the same sense of humour, silly characters, fun gameplay, great tunes and all that stuff that we enjoy making."

The account also clarified that the aim "wouldn't be to try and recreate Banjo. It would be something new."
