PopCap Dublin studio closed

PopCap has closed its studio in Dublin.

The developer confirmed the news to CVG, saying, "96 people have been affected by the decision. PopCap has provided outplacement support and many employees have offers in other parts of PopCap, at EA or new opportunities with technology partners in Ireland."

The news was first broken by associate producer at PopCap, JP Vaughan, who wrote on Twitter: "And it's official. PopCap Dublin is now closed."

PopCap public relations contact, Stu Taylor, added: "So that's that then. The emerald dream is over. To the pub, Batman!"

PopCap co-founder, John Vechey, recently confirmed there would be a number of staff cuts made to PopCap studios around the world.
