The Crew Companion App, an app created to allow players to tweak their vehicles and explore the world map, will be delayed to early 2015, according to the literature on the back of the game’s box (via Videogamer).

The game is released today and it was hoped the Companion App will add value as well as allow players to continue with their game when they’re away from their consoles/PC.

More games are now being accompanied by apps to enhance the gaming immersion, we’ve seen Battlefield and GTA both offer apps to help players stay connected to their worlds.

But despite this delay, Ubisoft has said that the game itself will be in good shape and “won’t suffer launch problems”.

Speaking to The Metropolist, lead designer Serkan Hasan said he was confident the game would go off without a hitch, despite the issues faced by Assassin’s Creed and competitor DriveClub.

It’s an ambitious title, the first real MMO racer to speak off and the game that hopes to do a better job at launch than the struggling DriveClub.

"The launch of any online game these days has potential issues, but I hope that players will be encouraged by our open approach.” said Hasan.

Hasan said that the game will run at 1080p and 30fps “on launch”, suggesting that a patch in the future may take it to 60fps. We are, of course, speculating here, but it would make an already beautiful game more fantastic.

We’ve had a lot of time with The Crew, you can read all about it here. And we’ll have our review up soon too, but we’d like to hear from you and what your thoughts are on the game.
