FIFA World is being built as a true free-to-play experience as players who don't spend money are as crucial as players who do, according to senior director Mike McCabe.

There are several ways players can spend their money in FIFA World, most commonly through buying player packs.

However McCabe said using real money wasn't essential and you could happily progress through the game for free.

"We wanted to make sure it was true free-to-play," he told ArabicGamers. "So we don't have gates, there aren't specific ceilings you can reach, you can grind your way through the entire game and you can continue to play like that.

"The monetisation is by buying player packs, it's the Ultimate Team monetisation. We do have a match credit mode, a monetisation system in league teams, but to be honest the Ultimate Team is the most prevalent mode that people are playing."

Building the foundations for a healthy community, and not trying to milk players for cash, is FIFA World's objective.

"Our primary focus is on engagement, our primary focus is on getting people into the game and building a community, so it's something people can have a really great experience with.

"And if they choose to spend that's great. If they don't then it's as important to have non-spenders in the game as it is to have spenders."

McCabe recently told us that there's a "great desire" to localise FIFA World into Arabic, and it could happen sometime in 2015. You can read more on that story here.
