Finally, more and more people are getting to discover the joys of Titanfall. Since last year only a privileged few have managed to get their hands on the new shooter from Respawn Entertainment, and pretty much everyone has been impressed. The Xbox One game entered beta last week before being opened up to everyone a few days ago, and it's safe to say the servers are getting a pounding.

The majority of players are happy with what they're seeing, a shooter bringing verticality back into the genre, where Titans roam below and Pilots hunt from above. Double-jumping and wall-running have added a whole new dimension to gameplay that had become pretty formulaic in first-person shooters.

So what's the problem? Well, there are some people who believe that Titanfall is too easy.

This is because of the cannon fodder. Or, more specifically, the AI bots that join multiplayer matches and are generally there to be killed and help you gain some much-needed points. They add a bit of variety and life to matches, being sent onto the battlefield and usually together in groups of two or three, and can generally be taken out without much hassle.

Hardcore shooter fans believe this is making Titanfall too friendly for beginners, where's the challenge if you can rack up easy points by farming on AI? But after getting to grips with the beta for the last few days, I can see exactly why Respawn decided to add the AI bots in there and why I wouldn't change a thing.

Sure, they might be easy pickings for new players looking to get to grips with a fast-paced shooter. But why is that a bad thing? The bots don't have the jetpacks that Pilots are equipped with, so they mainly populate the lower ground along with the Titans. This is surely a good thing, as it means that maps don't just become empty wastelands with all of the action going on in the air.

The only thing Respawn could do is tweak the points system slightly, so that killing bots doesn't give you as much reward and matches on Attrition aren't decided by players who are taking advantage of them being there.

There's also the smart pistol that can lock onto an enemy target, so theoretically players who aren't that great can enjoy that elusive single-shot kill. This isn't as game breaking as it sounds, though, as you still need to get up pretty close to your target. Unless you're a player who moves around very quickly then you probably won't use it too much, but it's a nice option to have for those who are new to shooters.

Why is it such a bad thing if less skilled players get to have a bit more fun than they usually would in Call of Duty or Battlefield, where the average time between respawns is about ten seconds? Helping to open up the genre to a section of players who wouldn't usually enjoy shooters is surely a good thing? Getting more people to play good games should be the aim here.

Titanfall should be commended for providing fun for both skilled and less-skilled players. That's more than can be said for some of its rivals.
