The Elder Scrolls and Dishonored publisher Bethesda has revealed that it has no plans to support games on Wii U.

The company has so far avoided the Wii U since its launch last year, and it looks like that's not going to change anytime soon.

Bethesda marketing executive Pete Hines claimed there were hardware issues which stopped them from making games for the console.

"It's largely a hardware thing," he told Joystiq. "[We] make the games that we want to make, on whatever platforms will support them as developed.

"None of the games we've announced are being developed for the Wii U, so it's guaranteed that none of those games are coming to Wii U."

An upcoming game from Bethesda is The Elder Scrolls Online, and Hines said that couldn't launch on current-gen machines as it "just wasn't possible" due to the game's size.

"Will any future ones come out? I can't say for sure," he added. "In our near-term focus it's not on our radar."
