Far Cry 3 was one of our favourite games in 2012. It was a tropical island playground that let you hunt, shoot and glide to your heart's content. As you can imagine, we were thrilled when we heard a Far Cry 4 would be arriving at the end of the year. Here are some things we want to see in the new game to make it even better than its predecessor.

More wildlife

Wildlife was pretty much my favourite thing in Far Cry 3. You could be wandering in the forest, minding your own business when a group of pigs crosses your path. Then a little further ahead there's a goat chilling out in the sunshine. Then five seconds later you could be attacked from behind by a ferocious tiger. It's all good fun.

We want to see new and varied creatures in Far Cry 4. The snow mountain setting is the perfect opportunity to add in snow leopards and elephants. You could even add a Yeti in there to spice things up a bit.

A better protagonist

Far Cry 3 was loved for its open-world and freedom to explore. It wasn't loved for its story. That's partly because you were in control of a rich kid on holiday with his unlikable 'bros', and the players weren't actually sure whether they wanted to rescue them or not.

The enemies were much more interesting, particularly Vaas, and if Ubisoft could have crafted a hero half as enticing as him then things could have been much more exciting.

More variety to side-missions

There were a lot of outposts to liberate in Far Cry 3.  There were also a lot of hunting and assassination missions. Unfortunately there wasn't much variety to them, and in the end we found ourselves just concentrating on finishing the campaign.

The side-missions can work but they need to be more diverse, with a wider range of tasks. They also need to take us to hidden areas that we wouldn't otherwise explore had we not taken on the mission.

Keep it going until the end

There's no doubt Far Cry 3 fell off a bit when - spoiler alert - Vaas was killed halfway through the game. What was the deal with killing off the most intriguing character before the end, Ubisoft??

The game definitely lost some momentum after that point. If he's half as entertaining as he looks, the "despotic self-appointed king" in Far Cry 4 should stay alive right until the end.

Better co-op campaign

We admired the way Ubisoft added in an extra campaign dedicated solely to co-op in Far Cry 3. It didn't quite hit the mark and it could be completed in a couple hours, but there's definitely potential there.

Maybe we could even get the chance to experience the main campaign with a friend by our side? Hunting down wildlife as a team and infiltrating outposts together would add a whole new reason to tackle the main campaign again.
