Creative director for The Crew, Julian Gerighty, is hoping players approach the upcoming racer like they did Far Cry 3 a few years ago.

Far Cry 3 launched towards the end of 2012 and went on to become a critical and commercial success, despite going up against other big-name franchises.

Gerighty believes that players actually have to get their hands on The Crew to see why it's such a different experience, much like Far Cry 3.

"There's a game that did incredibly well a couple of years ago that had exactly the same questions thrown at it - Far Cry 3," he told ArabicGamers.

"Everybody was saying, well what are you bringing that's different to other shooters? And I could talk about it and they could talk about it until they're blue in the face, but until people get their hands on it and see it isn't Call of Duty, it isn't Medal of Honor, this is Far Cry!"

Gerighty claims that having hands-on time with the game is what matters most.

"Nothing is better than that experience, nothing is better than the emerging gameplay you get from the systems," he explained.

"And it's pretty much, basically what I'm betting on is that people start playing [The Crew] and realise that this is a completely different experience. And that's why the beta helps us as well."

The Crew will be released 14 November on PS4, Xbox One, PC and Xbox 360.
