The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of The Elder Scrolls Online now won't be available for another six months, Bethesda has confirmed.

The delay has been made to "ensure we deliver the experience our fans expect and deserve", while apparently there are unique problems when developing for the different platforms.

"We continue to work on the console versions of ESO, and game development has been progressing steadily, but we are still working to solve a series of unique problems specific to those platforms," said Bethesda.

"Though we have made great progress, we have concluded that we'll need about six months to ensure we deliver the experience our fans expect and deserve."

As an apology, Bethesda is offering PC and Mac players to purchase a digital version of the PS4 and Xbox One game for a discounted price of $20 USD when it finally arrives, along with 30 days of game time.
