In an interview with ArabicGamers, Wargaming.net GM Mike McDonald confirmed there would be more tanks coming to the recently launched WoT: 360 Edition.

Asked why there were less tanks in the 360 version, McDonald said there were “plans to get players behind the controls of new tanks from other countries as well as the existing nations. Stay tuned, there will be more information in the months ahead.”

The PC version offers tanks from the 360 roster, Germany, Britain and France, but also has armour from France, Russia and China. These tanks have been available on PC for some time and with the different strategies that could be implemented, it makes for more varied gameplay.

But what if you want to re-create a battle fighting only with tanks from the same faction? Currently you’re dropped in to battle with a variety of tanks from different countries, but are there any plans for you to fight as nations?

McDonald didn’t dismiss the idea, but did say it was to mix up the gameplay.

“World of Tanks is a game where people can explore a variety of different tanks, play styles and strategies. Different countries have different design philosophies; some had very specialised tank building strategies. To have a great experience, and an interesting mix of tanks and strategies to work with, mixing tank nationalities makes for interesting games.”

Gamers who’ve experienced the game on PC will also know the package upgrades are a lot more comprehensive on that platform. The Xbox version is more “streamlined” said McDonald.

“Our goal was to streamline play so gamers spend more time in the battlefield and less time in the garage, which is why we went with a package system. Of course, we will continue to refine these packages as time goes on, to make sure that players can rapidly select between different popular configurations for each tank.”

Considering the game was built for the Xbox from the ground up, it’s been handled well. It looks great and progression isn’t a slog, which I know it can be on the PC.

And with the news earlier this month that there’d be a community driven map unlocking event, we can finally see some new map packs.

We’ll be doing a more in-depth review of the game, but in the meantime you can check out our first impressions by our very own Pierce here.
