Mario Kart 8 gets Wii U release date

Nintendo has given Mario Kart 8 a release date of 30 May for the Wii U.

The kart racer will introduce a whole new set of characters to the franchise, including all seven of Bowser's Koopalings.

The game will be available to purchase in stores and from the Nintendo eShop.

Nintendo will be hoping that the first Mario Kart title for the Wii U will be able to spark some life into disappointing console sales.
