Free-to-play Dead or Alive 5 hitting PS3

Team Ninja has announced that a free-to-play version of Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate will be coming to the PlayStation Store in September.

The free-to-play version includes four characters - Ayane, Kasumi, Ryu Hayabuse and Hayate - and features every mode apart from Story mode.

Players will be able to purchase additional gameplay elements, such as new characters and a story, as they go along.

Those using the free-to-play version will also be able to play online against those who have bought the retail version.

Team Ninja also said that an Xbox 360 version is "possible" in the future.
