New Super Mario Bros. 2 3DS revealed

Nintendo has revealed a new Mario game for the 3DS during the Nintendo Direct live stream.

The game, New Super Mario Bros. 2, will be out in North America in August, the same time as the Japanese release date the company has confirmed.

The game will see Mario return to the 2D platforming world, which he knows so well, and will feature brother Luigi and "loads of other favourite characters front the popular Mario series," the press release states.

The press release also says the game was "created specifically as a pick-up-and-play experience that can be instantly enjoyed by players of all skill levels on the Nintendo 3DS system."
