The FIFA Interactive World Cup (FIWC) will be held in Dubai's Jumeirah Beach Hotel this year, EA has announced.

The eighth FIWC Grand Final will take place from 21-23 May and EA Sports and PlayStatoin will be hosting the event of 24 finalists from around the globe.  This is the first time the competition will be held in the Middle East.

Former FIFA World Cup champion, Christian Karembeu is the official FIWC ambassador and will also be playing some of the finalists in the game.

“I am delighted to be a part of this year’s FIWC Grand Final. The tournament gives football fans all over the globe the opportunity to become a real FIFA World Champion. The fact that over 1,000,000 players have taken part in this year’s tournament is astonishing and just goes to show how popular the FIWC is with football fans," said Karembeu.

There are already 11 finalists from seven countries who've already qualified for the Dubai Grand Final, with 14 places left. And with a grand prize of $20,000 USD, the champion really will have something to shout about. The winner will also get an invitation to attend the FIFA Ballon d'Or 2012, a night celebrating and recognising the achievements of footballing greats.

You can apply to be a finalist by participating through the ongoing online tournament played on the PlayStation Network. You'll need to register in-game in FIFA 12 on the PS3. For more information please visit the official FIFA competition page here.
