Crysis 3 on Wii U 'had to die'

Crysis 3 came close to being released on the Wii U, according to Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli.

The shooter recently launched on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC and has sold well so far.

Yerli revealed that a Wii U version was also in the works at one time, before being cancelled due to a lack of business support.

"We did have Crysis 3 running on the Wii U," Yerli told GamesBeat. "We were very close to launching it.

"But there was a lack of business support between Nintendo and EA on that. Since we as a company couldn't launch on the Wii U ourselves - we don't have a publishing license - Crysis 3 on Wii U had to die."
