Insomniac Games CEO Ted Price believes the studio's reputation partly comes from the crazy weapons found in previous games.
Insomniac has created fan-favourites such as Resistance and Ratchet & Clank in the past, which both had a strong emphasis on unique weaponry.
Price said that Fuse, the newest title from Insomniac, focuses mainly on four-player coop, but there will also be the innovative weapons that fans have come to expect from the studio.
"Going back to it again, four-player coop is a major thing," Price told ArabicGamers. "But also, being a fresh take on the shooter was important for us too, so having weapons that you won't find in any other game was key.
"We knew that we wouldn't be able to have a game with just shotgun, rifle, sniper rifle... We needed to go further.
"Plus our reputation as a company is somewhat based on the ability to make over-the-top, crazy weapons, so we wanted to take advantage of that."
Price added that the made-up setting is also a fun world to work with.
"Then there's the setting. The game does not take place in a real world setting at all, this is our own, made-up future.
"And that's fun for us, but it's a necessity to help differentiate the game from other, realistic, real-world based shooters."
