EA was the first company to officially announce a date for its E3 2014 press conference, and now the countdown to the big event can really begin. E3 is the biggest event in the gaming calender, as everybody waits until they land in Los Angeles to reveal their plans for the year.

Game announcements, teaser trailers, gameplay trailers, news on exclusives or licenses... There's always something to get excited about. To get into the spirit of things, we've listed off six games that we're dying to see more of at E3 2014.

Uncharted 4

The PlayStation 4 is an extremely powerful piece of kit, and it's sold way beyond what even Sony thought it was capable of doing in the first months following its release. But where are all the games? So far there hasn't been a massive reason to own a PS4 yet, with Killzone: Shadow Fall and inFamous: Second Son not living up to expectations.

Uncharted 4 could change all that. While it won't launch for a long time yet, just catching a first glimpse of the series on the PS4 would be enough to get players excited. A reveal and a teaser trailer have already been released, which means we're very likely to be hearing more on Uncharted 4 at E3.

Star Wars: Battlefront

I admit, I was more than a little bit excited when Disney signed a deal which would see EA creating new games in the Star Wars universe. Some people complained that EA wasn't worthy of the task of working on Star Wars, but really it was the only publisher big enough to sign a multi-year, multi-game agreement.

There are three Star Wars games being developed right now at different studios, but the only one we know about for sure is DICE's Star Wars: Battlefront. The Battlefield studio has more than enough experience when it comes to first-person shooters and we can't wait to see what they have in store for us with Battlefront.

Halo 5

The franchise Microsoft is banking on. Halo is always at the forefront of any Xbox promotion, and Halo 5 was teased as early as last year's E3, when Master Chief was standing in a desert looking a bit lost. A year is a long time and you'd think 343 Industries would have done enough work on the game to at least show us a new trailer and maybe even some gameplay.

We need to know fresh details, such as why Master Chief was wearing a cloak in the teaser trailer, what enemies will there be to destroy and when the game is set. Halo 5 will very likely be the Xbox One's biggest game when it finally launches.

Sunset Overdrive

This is a game that caught my interest from day one. Insomniac Games, the studio behind the fantastic Ratchet & Clank series and the not so fantastic Fuse, are working on a game full of colour and life. The debut trailer was fun and wild, but unfortunately we haven't seen or heard much else at all.

You'd think Sunset Overdrive is going to feature quite highly in Microsoft's E3 plans, as it's already been confirmed for a 2014 launch exclusively on Xbox One. We need to see gameplay and we need to see some crazy weaponry and explosions.

The Order: 1886

This really does look beautiful. We've seen quite a lot of gameplay for The Order: 1886 by now, and we know it's a third-person shooter which will see you taking cover before battering your enemies with a range of interesting weapons. We also know developer Ready at Dawn is looking to make this a cinematic experience, with cutscenes blending seamlessly into gameplay.

To be honest our excitement levels for The Order can't get much higher, but a look at more in-game footage is always welcome. What we really want to know is a firm release date, and when exactly in 2014 we'll be able to load the game up into our PS4s.

Mirror's Edge 2

It was a long time coming, but Mirror's Edge 2 was finally confirmed as a real thing at last year's E3. The debut trailer also showed off a more action-orientated experience, with protagonist Faith knocking her enemies unconscious with relative ease.

"The first game was a lot about running away from things," said EA's Patrick Söderlund. "And, even though you want to have sections with that, you also want Faith... she's a powerful character and you want her to take control." Those words might worry hardcore Mirror's Edge fans, but we're eager to see what direction the series is about to take.
