I'm impressed with the PS Vita hardware and will definitely be interested in one if it gets a price cut, I'm just concerned about the amount of games (or lack of...)

However now it sounds like Sony is really trying to push the Vita, it'll even get PS Plus next month which is a bonus.

Is the Vita worth getting now or is it best to wait until a possible price cut and better games?

The Vita is beautiful, the only problem is the price of the games on the system. It really is a rip off, considering you can get great games on your phone for cheaper. I think that's what Sony has accounted for, the value of these games and the market. You really can't sell games for £35 anymore.

My advise, wait till next year. They've already dropped price significantly since launch.

That's another thing, with iPhones and iPods getting more powerful every year is there a need for a dedicated handheld just for games?

Sony are keeping very quiet on talk of price cuts but I'm pretty sure next year they'll have even better offers.

Yeah, I'd be really surprsied if they release another handheld at all. I think the online, browser and app market place has left the handheld market a little useless. The 3DS has done good though...

Well I want one, but then I want pretty much every system that features a Persona game.

I don't subscribe to the theory that iOS and Android have single-handedly killed the handheld gaming market (there's simply too much that doesn't quite work without proper buttons) but you might see future handhelds hewing closer to phones, and perhaps focusing less on raw power.

Not sure Sony'll have another go, though. The Vita hasn't been going too well and I don't think the PSP did as well as they expected, which was a shame as that and the NDS were my go-to systems for quirky games. There's a lot of unique stuff on both of those platforms.

I don't know McTim, I think the handheld market is dead because of the phones and tablets. I think that, with a much larger user base and potential audience, the hardcore gamers have now really become a minority in that group. Most people have a PC which they can play games on, browser or otherwise, while the consoles dominate the other markets. I think we'll see a demise of the handheld completely and I think we'll see integration of console and PC games (whether online or otherwise) with our phones.

Systems like OnLive would thrive on gaming like this. Especially with the technology most phones and tablets pack nowadays, and the speeds which can be acheived over 4G.

That's my thinking as well, phones and tablets are taking a large chunk of the handheld audience. Most households already feature at least one tablet these days anyway, so why spend hundreds on a Vita?

As much as I would love getting one, it would just be a waste of money as I would rather just play my ps... And it would be just a novelty but maybe in the future if they made it so people on the vita can play people online on the ps3 then It may be worth getting it would certainly make me wanna get and use it more! :)
